Amazing Grace

A couple of weeks ago my family and I lost someone so dear. My Nana, a source of happiness and love, will be missed more than words can ever express.

It's been difficult getting back into the everyday. It's been difficult focusing on anything for more than a few moments. I've returned to work and continue to busy myself, but it's still a long process that I understand relies on time. I am so grateful for my family; they are a great, big rock and I couldn't imagine a more beautiful group.

I'd like to dedicate an entire post to her, because she was always so incredibly supportive of all my personal endeavors, but I'm just not ready to do that at this time. Eventually I'll get back on track and start blogging regularly. I have missed everyone and hope you're enjoying the summer.

  3. So sorry to hear about your loss. Take all the time you need to heal properly. I lost my gramps last September and it's a long road, but you'll get there.

  7. I'm so sorry for your loss. My own grandmother's passing took me a while to really hit me, and it still overcomes me from time to time. You're not alone and you will make it through this.

  8. Americans do not have a good system of grieving. Looking into other cultures and how they grieve, one will notice that it takes a full year, laughter and tears, anger and pain, all experienced amidst the closest community.

Allow yourself to grieve. For however long it takes. Grieve though with a greater purpose ahead of you- healing. Eventually the memories that sadden you and bring tears to the eyes, will one day bring laughter and thankfulness you have those same memories. One day you will have the greatest stories to tell your children and grandchildren. One day you will pick the part of her legacy you want remembered, take up that torch and carry on. One day at a time. One day...

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing someone whom you love so deeply is heartbreaking. I pray your heart will stop breaking and allow the grieving to begin the process of healing. Allow the tears. But don't forget the laughter. For every tear shed, remember a moment of laughter and joy. If I may be so bold, I think Nana would want that...

  9. I'm so sorry Beth! When my grandma passed away, I could not focus on anything for a whole week, not even reading. I could just watch TV.

    May she rest in peace.

  11. Sam,
Thanks so much. It really means a lot. Some days are better than others, but that's to be expected. I plan on posting next week sometime to get back in the swing of things. I need to get back in the habit of reading other blogs more too.
