This is what the month of August has looked like for me and my wallet (and maybe J's too). Of course, I haven't finished all of these. No, no. Just purchased them. 3 down/ 8 to go
Look out for my review of Broken Harbor, Tana French's latest in the Dublin Murder Squad series, very soon!
What titles are you anxious to pick up?
What a beautiful pile of books! You chose a nice variety. I'd like to hear your thoughts on The Falls - I haven't read that one but I've heard good things.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was a pick on a whim. The premise sounds promising so I'm hoping good things!
DeleteLove that pile of books! Makes me want to go out and buy my own pile :) Enjoy your reads - they all look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteNadia,
DeleteI'm not saying you should..but I'm not saying you shouldn't! Thanks! I just need to find the time now.
Great purchases! I love Joyce Carol Oates & need to read more by her, and I have been eyeing up The Heroine's Bookshelf for quite some time. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSam,
DeleteThis will (I'm ashamed to admit) will be my first Joyce Carol Oates. I'v been interested in her work for ages, but finally made the commitment and purchased The Falls. The cover art is quite brillant as well. Thanks!
Nice stack! Let me know when you pick up Pride & Prejudice; I want to reread it soon - I just picked up a used copy of Death Comes to Pemberley and wanted to reread P&P ahead of time! I also need to get going on JCO, and The Chaperone is waiting to be read as well.
ReplyDeleteI really want to read The Heroine's Bookshelf, and I probably will have to buy it because it is not to be found in my library system. I have a B and N gift card starting at me from my wallet, but I am trying to read through some (ok, maybe just a few) of the books I already have before I cave.
ReplyDeleteLindsey,
DeleteI had been eyeing it for ages when I stumbled upon a really cheap copy (that was brand new) at a little book shop in Alabama. I was pretty excited and felt it meant to be :) I have shelves of books I haven't read so I really need to stop buying and start reading. But there are some titles I just can't resist.
Love this photo. Several of the titles are on my "to read" list - if only they were on my "to read" pile like yours! (Especially Broken Harbor; still haven't gotten my hands on that.) Emily, Alone is missing from my shelf because I've been passing it around to everyone I know - I adore it. I've got the prequel (Wish You Were Here) to read soon and am hoping it's half as good.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
DeleteThanks! I'm ashamed to say that my TBR pile is so much larger than my Read pile at the home library. I tend to trade books unless I really really really love them, so much of my library is made of up TBR titles.
I'm glad to hear that Emily, Alone is so good. I kept seeing Wish You Were Here every time I went to a book store and then finally actually found Emily, Alone. Should I read Wish You Were Here prior to Emily, Alone? I couldn't remember which came first and the book didn't offer clarification.
I hope you'll enjoy Harold Fry. I'm looking forward to reading that myself.
ReplyDeleteJudith,
DeleteI actually read Harold Fry and loved it. The review is available on the blog as well. :)
